Who would GoT stars choose for their Hand?

Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) I think possibly I would go with somebody like Nietzsche. Somebody who was really a philosopher, a good advisor, a guider… But I would probably fight with him nonstop.

Robb Stark (Richard Madden) -  My dad is pretty smart. I think he’d have my back. Yeah, keep it in the family. I’d put my dad there and keep an eye on what he’s doing.

Jon Snow (Kit Harington) -  I’d have my brother Jack probably. He probably would try to steal the throne from me actually, but I think if anyone’s going to try to steal it off of me, I’d want it to be him. And he’s an inherently a good person so I think he’d rule the kingdoms quite well.

Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) - I would have to pick my mom because she gives me good advice all the time, as I’m growing up. I think she’s been a brilliant Hand of the Queen.

Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) - I’d want someone funny, someone a bit like Bronn, a comedian maybe. I really like Lee Evans actually. He’s kind of my same humor and does a lot of impressions that are funny, so yeah, probably Lee Evans.

Bran Stark  (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) - If I were on the Iron Throne and I had to choose a Hand, I would want Tyrion. He seems to have every angle covered. But assuming I can’t have a Westerosi character, I would choose Sigmund Freud. He could get to work on Joffrey and Cersei’s complex relationship, and I would get Joffrey an electric guitar and lessons from Metallica as he needs to channel his blistering fury into something less psychopathic.

Jaime Lannister (Nicolaj Coster-Waldau) -  If I were on the Iron Throne, I’d call my sister and say, “You want to be queen?”

Renly Baratheon (Gethin Anthony) - I’d like to first point out that I’ve never sat on the Iron Throne set or otherwise. But if I were to sit on it, I would choose my best mate Don, who when I was at school, we were in prefects together. And he was a wonderful, wonderful right-hand man. I think he’d be brilliant at it.

Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) -  It would be Aidan Gillen as Littlefinger, definitely. You know not to trust him, but he’d be a brilliant operator for you.

Ygritte (Rose Leslie) - The novelist Georgette Heyer wrote my favorite book, These Old Shades. In the book, there’s a character called the Duke of Avon. He’s a seriously cool character, very slick. I think I’d have to go for him. I love him. I love reading that book over and over.

Gendry (Joe Dempsie) - I would pick legendary soccer manager Brian Clough who managed a football team that I support in the late ’70s and ’80s. He was quite a character and took no prisoners. One of his most famous quotes was when someone asked him if he as the best manager in the country. He said, “I wouldn’t say I was the best manager in the country, but I’m in the Top 1.” Michael Sheen played him in a film years ago called The Damned United.

Lancel Lannister (Eugene Simon) - If I could choose somebody to be my Hand to the King it would probably be, if he were alive, Peter Sellers. There you go. Peter Sellers, before he did Dr. Strangelove and went insane.

Irri (Amrita Acharia)  - I was thinking of a superhero. Let’s have Wonder Woman. She’d be by my side, she’d be my mentor, why not?

Note: I have no idea why TV Guide paired Wonder Woman with a pic of Peter Dinklage. It should be with this gorgeous woman:

Style Games
There is an HBO television series that is driving us crazy. It’s called  game of thrones and if you have not seen it yet , we will have to withdraw the greeting. Two of it’s young actors  Kit Harington and  Richard Madden, visited Mexico and got to pose exclusively for this issue of Esquire.

Public relations enters the hotel hall of St.Regis in Mexico city and asks kit harington how much he would like to spend on his mothers present. The actor of the series Game of thrones responses with a couple laughs “how much do you think my love for my mother cost?”(Pause) Well, I’m not talking about millions of pounds”. When is you’re mothers birthday asks the actor Richard Madden . Tomorrow responds Kit.and what day is tomorrow? April St. that’s also my mothers birthday affirms Richard madden.

Well, it makes sense in a strange way that, being half-siblings on television, your mother’s  birthday are on the same day. I intervene; being a reporter and fan of the series i try not to look like a groupie.
“It’s true”;says harington. We are half brothers via father or not”. I look with some reproach. I don’t want to get ahead of my self, i don’t want to know anything that happens in the second season of game of thrones. I have stayed away from admiring fan blogs and have only read the first book “A Song Of Ice and Fire, the literary trilogy of George R.R. Martin in which the program is based on. Nobody can reproach that is so cautious, especially considering that this is a series in which anything can pass. For example; to kill the protagonist and hero Ned Stark as it happened in the first season and then have the show go on like nothing happened. who have seen Game of Thrones will understand the importance of not knowing anything in advance, gives it a more intense curiosity.

Who have not seen it, I warn you, it’s easy to  be devoted to the new stars of HBO. I give you three reasons. One: is a great story about power struggles in the Middle Ages as told from a very realistic, bloody narrative. Second:  It’s a very impressive production, which has nothing to envy from middle earth peter Jackson believe in the film trilogy of the rings. three: It has excellent acting performances, it is no coincidence that the great Peter Dinklage has won a Golden Globe for playing the dwarf Tyrion Lannister.

Right. Martin’s books are a great foundation on which this series was created as ambitious. The British author already had large amount of followers in his country and had received proposals to bring his stories to the big screen. But Martin rejected them, on the grounds that the film was not the appropriate way to adapt to the huge books filled with detailed and description. Making them in a TV series was the best alternative for them; although few channels dare air the show due to its explicit sex and violence scenes. HBO was the option, and in 2007 it was announced that the chain had bought the rights. The series premiered in 2011 and after the first episode it was known that there would  be a second season and here we are.

Here also is  Kit/ Jon  snow and Richard /Robb Stark, to star in a fashion session for Esquire. Both are 26 years old and have studied theater. Madden(Scottish) has been acting since childhood and has already worked in TV before Game of thrones. For Harington(British) it was the first time he stepped foot on a set, although he had theatrical experience.  Aside from following the series for one of two more seasons, depending on how the viewers adapt to the books of Martin. Both of them have film projects.

Richard prefers not to jinxs anything” It’s big and i can’t talk about it, but I’m very excited”.Kit soon will promote his movie Silent hill: Revelation 3D , in which he shares the screen with Sean Bean ( the actor who portrays Ned Stark) and in 2013  we will see him again in ” The Seventh Son, along side Jeff Bridges y Julianne Moore. So there you have reasons to be happy, with that it’s understandable why they have arrived with hangovers: yesterday they went out for drinks.( kit concludes that tequila is treacherous). The session has to be completed in a small amount of time so the interview occurs during clothes changes. While Richard is in front  of the camera, someone from our staff recommends kit to drink a  clamato (Spanish drink) mixed with vodka.

“Is it good?” Kit asks. “It’s a strange mix but delicious. In those ingredients you may recognize the sauces that’s  English it starts with worces”.. my tongue gets trapped. I don’t remember the original name of the drink. ( who in it’s right mind know the original name of an English drink?) and this moment I’m sharing with kit is making me nervous. I repeat myself I don’t want to seem like a groupie. “Worcestershire”, He corrects me. ” I am from Worcestershire”, he says smiling like a curious child while in front of the drink he is receiving.

Richard finishes his photos and now it’s kits turn. But before he leaves  public relations comes in and informs the boys that the third season for game of thrones has been confirmed. the actors hug and scream, like Robb stark/ Richard says ” another reason to celebrate today”. With how great the future is looking for the boys i doubt they needed many excuses. That bright future is due to the series that brought them to the front of this recorder and of this reporter that can’t hide that she is a fan almost groupie during the interview.

Esquire:How did you get the roles in game of thrones?
Kit: My agent send me on the first audition and ever since i always thought i wanted the part. and out of luck i got picked after three auditions and that’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I was so excited that when i went to sign my contract i didn’t care about the nudity clause. after seeing what they did on the first season with the nudity scenes i said ” oh god, what did i signed”.
Richard: For me they send me a couple scenes, i red them and i liked them so much that i bought the book.  Then i decided to go out for the role. It was a very requested and  competitive role but at the end i got it. I have done television, i worked in a series since i was a child but nothing with this level of production and with such talented people.

Esquire:What did you like about you’re characters, or of the project in general that you wanted these roles so bad?

Kit: My character Jon snow develops in interesting ways, and we have many things in common. he is very impulsive, acts before he thinks and worries a lot. In this season he becomes more of a man, But men also commit errors and learn from them. Also i wanted to work with Sean Bean an actor i have always admired.
Richard:  For me I liked Robb’s honesty, He has a strong sense of knowing what is right, and he isn’t selfish.  In this season his heart and his brain are not in the same place. For that reason this season has given me motivation as an actor. Robb experiences things for the first time, He falls in love, has strong conversations with his mother, and  leads a battle and those are big dramatic events.
Esquire: what fascinates me is that’s nobody ever knows what’s going to happen, like when they killed Ned Stark.. until the last minute i thought he was going to live.

Richard: But nope, he doesn’t even come out in ghost form. He died and that is it. That keeps on happening in the story, which is a genius. The work of the actors and the production crew is to attract the audience with a sense of trust because they know what there going to  see is good, but at the same time they are uncertain because everything can change. and its going to change.
Esquire: How is it working in a production that is so complex and detailed?
Richard:  It’s incredible, even every location smells different. You feel the changes physically they aren’t set’s made of cardboard and that makes your work much easier. It’s true there are a lot of details that affect me for example; my costume affect the way i walk, because is very heavy and in changing my posture my voice gets deeper and that all adds to my character.

Kit: I think that everything that was filmed in this season was in location and only a couple things where computerized. something rare these days is impressive, being on top of a mountain and having the view that you’re character is supposed to have. Many of the scenes where shot in Iceland, which was the perfect place to shoot what we needed. There we didn’t fake being cold, we were freezing. There we were on top which was 300 meters of height and minus 30 degrees. if i walked from the hotel to the makeup trailer with my hair wet i would arrive with my head frozen.

Esquire:The series fastly won fanatics and critics..

Richard:Something that has made this series  popular is that we aren’t talking down to the viewers, we expect them to pay attention. It’s not a series where you can watch it while you are cooking because you will lose important details. But the effort is rewarded something that is rare on television which is usually easy and forgettable.
